LAKE LURE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Town of Lake Lure announced target dates for reopening in 2026.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) identified Oct. 31, 2025 as the target date for completing work restoring the lake basin and related shoreline. Town officials said that the goal is to welcome residents and visitors back to a fully restored Lake Lure by late spring 2026.

Officials identified March 1, 2026 as the target date to achieve the lake level of 978.5 feet Mean Sea Level (MSL), or 12 feet below full pond. The intent is to reach the full pond level, or 990.5 MSL, by May 1.

According to officials, the current lake level is about 968 MSL, or about 22.5 feet below full pond.
