Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse city school teacher has been charged with rape after police said he had sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy multiple times.

The teacher, Lansing Dimon, 54, is a music teacher who has been with the district since August 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Dimon was placed on administrative leave when the district was notified of his arrest, according to a statement Tuesday by Syracuse School Superintendent Anthony Davis. The incidents happened off school grounds, he said.

Dimon was charged on Aug. 28, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for Syracuse police. Police announced his arrest on Tuesday afternoon.
