The Titans did not open the season on Flag Day (that’s June 14), but by the end of last Sunday’s 20-12 loss to Denver, it might have felt that way.

Tennessee was penalized 13 times against the Broncos, tied for the most of any team in Week 1, with officials walking off a league-high 131 yards against the Titans.

With Denver getting flagged just six times, it meant the Titans had a net penalty yard differential of minus 86, which was worst in the league for Week 1.

It was an embarrassing way to start the season for the Titans, who — after finishing fourth in the NFL in penalties against last season (132) — had placed a significant emphasis on cutting back those mistakes in 2025.
