CARY, N.C. (WNCN) -- The Wake County Public School System Safety and Security Committee presented updates to district-wide security policies Tuesday, including outlining potential steps the district could take in the future to keep students safe.

"We want to make sure that any change in society, whether they are behavioral, or technical, that we understand how that impacts the safety of a school," said Dr. Robert Taylor, superintendent of Wake County Public School System.

One of the biggest security concerns centers around large events. Last month, shots were fired in the parking lot of Southeast Raleigh High School during its football jamboree.

Following that incident, district security leaders outlined some steps they take ahead of similar large events.
