ORONO -- On Saturday night, the Maine Black Bears nearly came away with their first victory of the 2025 season against in-conference opponent William and Mary. But the game slipped through their fingers in the final minutes.

The team’s veteran leaders on both sides of the ball are proud of the effort their team displayed, but acknowledge the need to straighten out the little things in order to close out games.

“Just cleaning up the discipline," said graduate linebacker Christian Thomas. "I think we did that. We still have more work to do on that.”

“We had opportunities last week we didn’t take advantage of, so that’s what this week is all about," said graduate quarterback Carter Peevy. "Just getting back out there and really correcting those finite details that make a difference.”
