The Fairmont Empress Hotel hopes to host drinks on the patio by expanding outdoor space for patrons to enjoy bevies with a rooftop patio.
The iconic hotel overlooking Victoria’s Inner Harbour is seeking support from the City of Victoria pitching the plan to the provincial liquor licensing board.
In their report to council, staff recommend supporting the proposal to increase the occupant load to 779 people, while sticking with current hours – 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. The increase is 330 patrons, utilizing an interior area that would allow 80 more and an outdoor rooftop patio fit for 250 people, in a new space dubbed the Library.
Following city licensing protocol, staff sent notices to everyone located within 100 metres of the location (a total of 925 notices); posted a notice at the Empress; and
