Bruce “Loose” Calderwood, vocalist and bassist of seminal San Francisco punk band Flipper, has died at age 66.

The band’s drummer, Stephen DePace, confirmed Loose’s death in a post to Facebook . Loose, who had recently suffered a stroke, died of a possible heart attack Friday at his home in Humboldt, California, as per a report by Pitchfork .

Bruce Richard Calderwood was born in California in 1959. He adopted the stage name Bruce Lose before modifying it to “Loose,” and joined Flipper after the band’s founders — Russell “Will Shatter” Wilkerson, Ted Falconi and DePace — ditched their original singer, Ricky Williams, for missing gigs, the report said.
