MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Star Tribune will print its last newspaper locally in December.
The paper announced Monday that it will switch to a Gannett printing facility in Des Moines, Iowa, but the Minnesota Star Tribune will still handle delivery.
Around 125 employees will be impacted by the Minneapolis site’s closure. The decision to close was a financial one: the media company said the move will save millions of dollars annually as it continues to build its digital presence.
“This is a difficult but necessary decision to position the Minnesota Star Tribune for future growth,” said Steve Grove, CEO and Publisher. “Our industry continues to evolve rapidly, and this change will help us preserve resources, invest in our digital transformation, and continue delivering the high-quality jo
