PORTAGE, MI — The Craftsman Chop Co. and East Egg breakfast restaurant have closed their doors, the restaurants announced Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The Craftsman, at 6905 Sears Drive, and East Egg, at 6907 East Egg Drive, were both owned by Craig Suyak.

“After almost 20 years, the Craftsman and East Egg are closing their doors,” Suyak’s team announced on social media . “If you’ve dined with us, drank with us, laughed with us, or cried with us in the last 20 years, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ... we wish we could reach out to all of you individually.

“You have made the Craftsman and the East Egg truly something special.”

Suyak opened the restaurant — known for its fresh steaks and seafood — in 2004 with Mike and Nancy Labus.
