LINCOLN, Neb. —

Nebraska lawmakers cleared the air on their purpose for attending a White House leadership conference in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday after a combination of campaign messages and media reports speculated redistricting plans would take center stage.

"No one said the word redistricting," Sen. Loren Lippincott, one of the more than a dozen state senators to attend, said. "That was never talked about. Not one time today, not by any of us or by any of the speakers."

The meeting spanned the afternoon and covered a broad range of topics from executive orders to the One Big Beautiful Bill. Some U.S. cabinet members, like Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, spoke to the assembly, Lippincott said.
