ATHENS, Ga. — A former high school baseball standout in Athens and a current rising star in the minor leagues, Rio Foster is now fighting for his life after suffering severe injuries in a car crash.
Foster is a 22-year-old Athens native who played high school ball at Clarke Central and is currently an outfielder with the Tri-City Dust Devils, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.
On Friday, Foster was a backseat passenger when he was in a bad car wreck in Washington. He was ejected from the car and suffered a traumatic brain injury along with skull and facial fractures.
