WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- We are learning more about the Aug. 13 hit-and-run crash at Harry and Rock Road in Wichita that killed 14-year-old Jackson Nzabonimpa.

The charging affidavit against Gauge Brasher, 19, the man who is accused of driving the BMW involved in the crash, shows that the vehicle event data recorder indicated that the car was traveling 117 mph five seconds before airbags were deployed. 3.5 seconds later, the brakes were activated at 115 mph.

The vehicle had an impact speed of approximately 66 miles per hour. The officer who took custody of Brasher noted that he appeared to be intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. The officer conducted a field sobriety test, which the affidavit says showed he was impaired.
