ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department said a man is dead after he refused to drop his weapon once he was confronted by officers at the Four Seasons early Wednesday morning.

Officers arrived at the hotel after receiving a call about a man with a gun in the lobby at around 12:48 a.m., police said.

Three officers confronted the man when he started walking around the building. Once the man saw the officers, police said he fled towards the parking garage. Police said officers gave the man several verbal commands for him to drop his weapon, but he refused, and one of the officers opened fire.

Officers provided first aid after the shooting, police said, but he died at the scene.
