LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Residents at an east Las Vegas valley senior community were shaken after they said they discovered a series of racist messages in and around their building over the past few months.

“It said ‘monkeys behaving badly on the second floor again, ’” a resident who wanted to remain anonymous shared with 8 News Now.

She said she found the note outside her door on the ground and took action by bringing it to the management office.

“I knew it was a racist comment attacking our black community here," she explained. “It's not the first incident that we've had here."

Another woman living at the complex, who also wanted to remain anonymous, showed 8 News Now a photo of one of the alleged notes left on someone’s door, which read “[expletive].”
