LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Las Vegas Planning Commission unanimously voted to pass a proposed nearly 96,000-square-foot emergency services communication center in the northwest Las Vegas valley.

The proposal passed 7-0 on Tuesday evening during the planning commission meeting. The Land Use Entitlement project request was for a two-story, 95,984 square foot government facility that would house an emergency services communication center on 66.25 acres of land at the northeast corner of Rome Boulevard and Shaumber Road near the 215 and Centennial Parkway.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Department said the Red Rock Communications center will serve as a joint communication facility designed to "strengthen and modernize" 911 services across geographically diverse locations.
