CHEBOYGAN ― Olivia Patrick knows what it was like to face Elk Rapids in volleyball last season.

“We got absolutely destroyed,” Patrick recalled. “The sets were quick, and it was over in about an hour.”

That defeat provided plenty of motivation heading into Tuesday, Sept. 9, for the Chiefs , who went out and made the most of their opportunity in the rematch on Parents Night.

They didn’t just pick up a massive victory ― they showed they're a serious contender in their conference.

The Chiefs used their overall team balance and plenty of mental toughness to earn a hard-fought 3-1 win over the Elks (25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 25-23) in Cheboygan’s home opener.
