SHELTON, CT. (WFSB) - The city of Shelton is working to make the streets safer for kids.

School buses now have cameras installed to catch drivers who aren’t stopping while kids are getting on or off.

In the ten days since school began, more than 250 drivers have been issued violations.

“The kids are in danger every time they get on and off the bus,” said Gail Heffron.

She sends her two kids on the bus every day and has seen firsthand the dangers that can come when drivers disobey the law.

“We had it on our own street where someone came up from the cul-de-sac and went right past the bus not even realizing. And it’s scary because you don’t want the kids to get hurt,” she continued.
