After playing a little more than 65 minutes of varsity girls soccer Tuesday, Thomas Johnson senior forward Monica Negrete concluded it was “nothing like the scrimmages.”

Most of her teammates had the same realization. For Negrete and the majority of the Patriots’ roster, it was the first time they had ever experienced the full speed and intensity of a varsity match.
