SY girls finish third in PV tournament

The Santa Ynez girls water polo team dropped its last two games in the Pioneer Valley Tournament Saturday and finished in third place.

The tournament took place at Pioneer Valley and Santa Maria.

At Pioneer Valley, Santa Ynez lost to Paso Robles 11-6 then fell 11-2 to Madera in the third place game.

Pirates goalkeeper Rylan Agin made seven saves against Paso Robles and four against Madera. Eleanor Murphy scored twice against Paso Robles.

Elena Sleiman and Juliet Kerr both scored once against Paso Robles and once against Madera.

The Pirates had a strong showing Friday to get to the championship bracket. Santa Ynez defeated Fresno Hoover 10-1 and Hanford 12-0.

Agin made six saves in both games. Angeline Lefemine and Paige Reynolds scored three go
