Nottingham burglar told police he was 'helping his partner move house'

A third-strike burglar from Nottingham proudly told a courtroom that “I’m off the methadone now, I’ve detoxed off everything” as he was jailed for his latest set of offences. Nottingham Crown Court heard how Scott Watson broke into one address using a screwdriver and a metal bar which he foolishly left at the scene.

On that occasion the 37-year-old took items to the value of £1,000 before going on to commit a number of unrelated shop thefts in the Clifton area where he lives. Jailing him for two-and-a-half years, Recorder Michelle Heeley KC said: “On May 14, you broke into a house and took a number of items including an expensive watch which held sentimental value. You are a typical acquisitive offender of someone with a drug ha
