Flags representing Great Britain, Ireland and Lincolnshire have appeared throughout Lincoln – yet nobody appears to know their origin.
England's St George's Cross has witnessed a revival nationwide in recent weeks.
Nevertheless, it has been accompanied in Lincoln by the Welsh dragon, the Scottish Saltire, the Northern Ireland Ulster Banner, the Irish Tricolour and Lincolnshire's county flag.
They have been erected on lamp posts throughout the city centre , including the High Street, Triton Road and South Park.
No authority has taken responsibility for their installation, reports Lincolnshire Live .
