CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — During a town council meeting on Tuesday evening, Cheshire decided against the construction of a cold storage facility that would be the size of approximately two football fields.
The room was crammed to capacity with angry residents, lawyers and developers after a proposal to build a cold storage warehouse adjacent to Interstate 691 was brought forward last month. Tuesday's meeting was a continuation of a meeting that took place on Aug. 12.
None of the residents who spoke during the public hearing on Tuesday spoke on behalf of the storage facility. The facility would have stored perishable goods, such as food, in a temperature-controlled environment to extend shelf life and prevent them from spoiling.
