HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Nearly three months ago, a driver veered off the road on Oahu’s North Shore , nearly killing 20-year-old Dakota Briley.
He spent nearly two months in the intensive care unit at The Queen’s Medical Center on O’ahu, and is now making great progress in his recovery.
“Thank you all for supporting me. I really appreciate it,” Briley said in a video update.
About a month ago, he arrived at the Craig Hospital for rehabilitation in Denver, Colorado.
“Since we’ve been here, he’s been able to communicate, and he’s found his voice. He’s got his voice back. And he’s eating solid foods, so he’s been able to start putting weight on. He gained about 10 pounds,” his father, surfing legend Shawn Briley, said.
