Parkes junior and South Sydney backrower Ben Lovett has been forced to retire at just 23.
The decision was confirmed by the Rabbitohs on Wednesday, September 10, after two years of surgeries and complications due to a knee injury suffered in the 2023 NSW Cup grand final.
The former Spacemen junior sensation decided to retire following medical advice that he could not return to the level at which he wanted to play.
"This decision has not been made lightly," Lovett said.
"Following medical guidance and my rehabilitation journey, retiring on medical grounds is what is best for my long-term health and quality of life.
"I love the game of rugby league and this club, and it has been an incredible honour to pull on the Rabbitohs jersey in the NRL.
