DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — An old apartment building burned nearly to the ground early Wednesday morning as crews investigate what exactly started the mysterious blaze.

According to the Durham Fire Department, crews were called around 1:45 a.m. to the 1100 block of Dayton Street. Officials said the first responding units found heavy fire through the roof.

The location of the fire was where the old Lincoln Apartments, an affordable housing apartment complex, once stood.

Officials said ladder trucks were able to knock down the fire. "No one was injured and no one displaced," officials said. • Dayton Street fire in Durham (Credit: Division Chief B.
