The last time Springfield recorded a 90° day was on August 22, 19 days ago. While we should avoid the 90s again today in Springfield, we will find them again soon enough as a late summer heatwave develops this week.

Temperatures today will be warmer in the mid to upper 80s. Some spots may get close to 90°, but generally that will be reserved for Thursday.

The recent pattern has brought a few weak waves of energy through the Ozarks. Most of the rain has simply not held together once coming out of Kansas into Missouri because the air is very dry. However, we've recovered moisture levels enough that any energy that follows this same track today may be able to squeeze a few showers out in Southwest Missouri. Overall, the chance for rain is low.
