Foster Malleck’s running career has been a steady climb, but this year it has reached an entirely new elevation.
The Kitchener native finds himself on the biggest stage of his life, representing Canada at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
Malleck, 24, is currently training in Gifu, a small city outside of Nagoya, ahead of the 1,500-metre heats on Sunday morning (Saturday, 8:35 p.m., EDT, CBC Sports).
“I definitely want to make the most of the experience and enjoy myself,” said Malleck on Tuesday, “but I’m still going in with big goals for myself. I think making the semifinals and the final is definitely a possibility.”
