Père-René-de-Galinée secondary school in Cambridge has closed for the day after threats of harm at the school, said Waterloo Regional Police.

A message on the school’s Instagram account stated the school is closed Wednesday “as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of all.”

“We are investigating after social media threats were made to cause harm to students within the school on today’s date,” said Cherri Greeno, police director of corporate affairs.

“Officers will be present at the school as they continue to investigate and to determine the validity of the threats.
