ALPINE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A massive fall resale event opened Tuesday, bringing more than 200,000 children’s and maternity items to the former Art Van location on Alpine Avenue.

Organizers with Just Between Friends Grand Rapids said 930 families are selling clothing, toys, books and gear at prices 50% to 90% below retail. The event runs through Saturday.

Sellers keep 60% of sales after a $15 fee.

Organizers reported families earned about $500 on average at the previous sale. Items not sold are donated to local charities.

The sale’s presale took place Tuesday for consignors, volunteers and groups such as teachers and first responders. Public shopping continues Wednesday and Thursday, with half-price days Friday and Saturday.
