TAUNTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The Taunton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on Tuesday.

The Taunton Police and Fire Departments were sent to 450 Somerset Ave. at approximately 5:30 p.m. for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, first responders found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken by Brewster Ambulance to a trauma center with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Detective Division, with assistance from the Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation. This is an active and ongoing investigation, in its early stages.
