GLENWOOD, Iowa (WOWT) - A group of construction workers used a trampoline to save a boy after rescuing others from a burning house in a Glenwood neighborhood on Monday.

The fire happened at about 12:30 p.m. near the 200 block of South Vine Street, according to Glenwood Fire Chief Matt Gray.

Leick Construction employees John Lewis, Gabe Record, and Damian Pond happened to be nearby and saw the house on fire, so they went into the home. They were able to rescue two women and a girl.

Record gave a harrowing account while attempting to rescue those inside the house.

“I didn’t know what to do, so I kind of came out the front door a I came out the front door,” Record said. “There was an explosion, and I turned sideways got out and that was that.”
