A man has been arrested after allegedly ramming a police car and leading officers on a dramatic high-speed chase.

The incident began just before 2pm on Wednesday, when patrols spotted the man acting suspiciously near a parked Subaru on Correena Ave in Paralowie, in Adelaide’s northern suburbs .

As police officers approached , the man allegedly jumped into the Subaru and rammed it into a police vehicle before taking off at speed.

A pursuit was initiated but was quickly called off due to safety concerns.

Additional units, including the police helicopter PolAir, were deployed to track the suspect as he sped south along the Northern Expressway.
