Hastings County staff are proposing an expansion of Bancroft’s winter warming centre into a year-round, 12-hour daily shelter starting in April 2026.

Members of the county’s community and human services committee are scheduled during today’s meeting to review the recommendation. If supported by the committee, the concept would then require county council’s approval.

If approved, the expansion would have full provincial funding via Ontario’s Homelessness Prevention Program. Its operational costs include staffing, utilities, insurance, taxes, and property maintenance.
