The Nelson County Board of Supervisors and the county planning commission spent a recent work session on an ongoing zoning update discussing proposed regulations for community design standards and subdivisions.

The county has partnered with Berkley Group, a Bridgewater-based local government consulting firm, to update, modernize and restructure the county’s zoning and subdivision ordinances. The revision in the works aims to provide streamlined and user-friendly regulations, incorporate best planning practices and current state code requirements, address goals and strategies identified in the comprehensive plan for growth and development and consider citizen needs and issues through the public engagement process.
