A province-wide rally is planned for tomorrow to draw attention to what organizers call the “escalating crisis of addiction and crime” across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Tina Olivero, who is with the Guardians of Recovery Foundation, is spearheading the effort, calling on government to take greater measures to address the flow of drugs into the province.

Olivero lost her son Ben to an overdose in 2023.

She’s calling for drug-sniffing dogs at ports, postal facilities, schools and truck stops and on-demand detox and rehab facilities and programs – focusing on long-term recovery and sober living homes.
