BARRE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Vermont's Agency of Transportation is now accepting grant applications for the Municipal Highway & Stormwater Mitigation Program and the Transportation Alternatives Program.
MHSMP offers grants to municipalities for projects that aim to "improve the quality of state waters" through environmental mitigation activities, like pollution prevention and stormwater management.
Project types that fall under this umbrella, and deemed eligible include culvert replacement, bio retention systems, bank stabilization and more. This year, about $1.5 million of MHSMP grant funding is available for stormwater pollution mitigation projects, according to VTrans.
