The 37th edition of Newfest kicks off next month in October, bringing some cinematic rebellion to the New York LGBTQ Film Festival.
Running Oct. 9-21 in Manhattan and Brooklyn, the hybrid festival will feature 130 films from 29 countries, bookended with Richard Linklater ‘s Blue Moon as the opening night film, before closing the festival with the New York City premiere of David Michôd ’s Christy .
Other highlights at this year’s festival include writer/director Annapurna Sriram’s Fucktoys (U.S. Centerpiece), Ryan White’s Come See Me in the Good Light (Documentary Centerpiece), Filipe Matzembacher and Marcio Reolon’s Night Stage (International Centerpiece) and Oriel Pe’er’s A Deeper Love: The Story of Miss Peppermint (New York Centerpiece).
