A bill to crack down on virtual online casinos is closer to becoming law.

Geoff Zochodne, a senior news analyst for Covers.com , reported the State Senate approved Assembly Bill 831 by a 36-0 vote. The bill would outlaw online sweepstakes casino sites.

On Monday that Senate committee took action to place a number of bills in its Suspense File, including Assembly Bill 831 which aims to outlaw online sweepstakes casino sites. The bill would also ban sportsbooks in the state, effectively making sure any sports gambling in the state would eventually be conducted at Tribal casinos.

The bill prohibits any individual or entity from supporting online sweepstakes gambling in the state and those who are in violation could face fines or even jail time. The bill is supported by a majority of Nati
