PAW PAW – Both tension and hope filled the Paw Paw Senior Center Tuesday evening as residents pressed Senior Life Services of Morgan County (SLSMC) to delay its planned closure of the site, saying they are ready to step up with volunteers and fundraising to keep the center alive.

The meeting, held ahead of the center’s Sept. 15 shutdown date, drew dozens of residents and local leaders who questioned why the center is closing despite community support. SLSMC officials said the decision stems from financial and staffing pressures that have plagued the county’s senior programs for years.
