NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspect has been arraigned in connection with the theft and burning of pride flags in downtown Northampton in June.

The Northampton Police Department stated that on June 19, at approximately 1:24 a.m., surveillance cameras captured two individuals stealing eight pride flags from the exterior awning of Thornes Marketplace, located at 150 Main Street. The suspects then reportedly placed the flags in the eastbound lane of Main Street and set them on fire.

Police said that a passing motorist put out the fire and prevented further damage from occurring. Following a months-long investigation, Northampton detectives have identified 22-year-old David Sivokonenko of Westfield as one of the suspects in the footage.
