CHARLESTON — A 2026 challenger to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham accused his opponent’s campaign of doctoring a video by using artificial intelligence to show him endorsing the legalization of medicinal cocaine, only to backtrack after conservative activists called him out.
Now the candidate — Upstate furniture salesman Mark Lynch — is claiming his remarks about legalizing the Schedule II drug were taken out of context, and did not show the full extent of his position on illicit substances.
“Since my complete comments made clear that I entirely oppose legalizing drugs, it is self-evident to anyone who has seen the footage that it was deceptively edited to omit my position against illegal and illicit drugs — the use of which I have counseled against for four decades now,” he said in a statement
