KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A bloody handprint, a knife and a lifelike mannequin on the floor — all elements of a mock crime scene that was set up in the Grand Rapids area Wednesday.
The simulation was part of "homicide school," hosted by the Michigan State Police. Detectives from MSP, sheriff's offices and local agencies across the state take part in the weeklong training, which offers case studies, classroom lessons and hands-on experience.
Wednesday was "scenario day."
"We have students, detectives from across the state participating in a mock crime scene scenario, investigating a suspicious death," said MSP Detective-Lt. Todd Workman, who helps run the school.
