LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man is jailed after calling the Calcasieu Correctional Center and pretending to be a judge to have an inmate’s bond reduced, deputies said.

Adrian James St. Romain, 42, called the jail on April 16 and had an inmate’s bond changed to “released on recognizance,” Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said. That inmate was released on the fraudulent bond in June.

When the inmate appeared in court on July 17, officials discovered they had been released under false pretenses, and they were booked back into jail, Vincent said. St. Romain reportedly called the jail two more times that month and tried to set another fraudulent bond on the same inmate, but he was not successful.
