SOUTH SALT LAKE — Deputy Mike Allred with the Tremonton Garland Police Department got a chance to meet with the team that helped his K9 unit, Azula , after a deadly shooting last month in Tremonton .

The gratitude came in abundance Tuesday, as Allred got to talk with the people who rushed to Azula’s aid.

“It means the world to me. I didn’t know that she was injured until after I’d been at the hospital for a little bit,” Allred said.

In the midst of the chaos a few weeks ago , as Allred was getting his own medical aid, an Intermountain Life Flight helicopter was on its way to pick up Azula.

“I got a phone call around midnight or 11, that there was a police dog with multiple gunshot wounds, ” Veterinary Emergency Specialist at MedVet, Dr. Katie Dawson, said.
