NEWINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - The Department of Transportation announced a 33% increase in town road aid for the first time in more than 10 years.
Towns like Newington will now receive a boost in funding for road projects.
People across the state say this money is more than needed.
“We just have a lot of potholes. We have a lot of roads that just have a lack of maintenance,” said Jeremiah Cole, New Britain. “The streets are just horrible.”
Soon, you might not encounter as many headaches when driving.
“It’s really sorely needed given the purchase price, the inflationary prices we’ve seen in the transportation infrastructure side,” said Garret Eucalitto, CTDOT Commissioner.
Newington is planning to put these funds to good use by keeping up with paving the town’s 112 miles of roads.
