Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer called for unity, following the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Kirk the 31-year-old CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was killed Wednesday afternoon while on stage at a speaking event at Utah Valley University.
“Thinking of Charlie Kirk, his family, and the community at UVU after the horrific shooting,” Whitmer posted on X, formerly Twitter . “We should all come together to stand up against any and all forms of political violence. It’s unacceptable.”
Videos posted to social media Wednesday show Kirk speaking into a handheld microphone at the university’s Sorensen Center courtyard just before being shot.
