NORTHFIELD — Mosquito pool samples collected Sept. 2 from the 700 block of Debora Street have tested positive for West Nile virus, the Atlantic County Division of Public Health said.

West Nile was previously confirmed this year in samples collected from Linwood, Pleasantville, Ventnor, a Zion Road site in Northfield and Somers Point.

The state reported Aug. 28 the county's first human case this year of West Nile, a mosquito-borne illness, though it did not identify what town the child who contracted it was from.

County officials continue to conduct mosquito surveillance and implement additional control measures, including mosquito ground sprays, the county said Wednesday in a news release.
