ST PAUL, Minn. — The woman who illegally purchased the guns used to kill two Burnsville Police Officers and a firefighter/paramedic was sentenced Wednesday to nearly four years in federal prison.
Judge Jerry Blackwell handed down a 45-month sentence to Ashley Dyrdahl after she pleaded guilty back in January to two counts of straw purchasing the guns that her boyfriend Shannon Gooden used to kill officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, and firefighter/paramedic Adam Finseth. Officials said Gooden, who was legally barred from buying or possessing guns as a convicted felon, fired more than 100 rounds during a standoff on Feb. 18, 2024, in Burnsville before taking his own life.
Dyrdahl initially told investigators that she bought the guns as part of her own personal firearm collection,
