LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has order all U.S. and Michigan flags at the State Capitol and all public buildings across the State of Michigan to be lowered to half-staff immediately. The move is in accordance with an order issued by President Donald Trump.

Kirk was killed while speaking at an event hosted at Utah Valley University.

Flags will be returned to full staff on Sunday, September 14.
