Mashpee High's cross country teams began their season on Monday afternoon , September 8, and came up short against East Bridgewater High School on the road. The Vikings' boys won by a 16-47 score, and the girls won 19-43.
Mashpee's top runner on the boys' side was Grey Auger, who was fifth overall. He ran the 2.9-mile course in 17:24. Christian Alfonso did a good job in his first-ever meet, running a time of 20:00. Ciaran Kotchian also ran well, clocking a 22:11.
For the girls, Anna Jensen competed for the win and took second overall with a time of 22:07. Teammate Kira Duvall was eighth overall in 24:18. Esme Milde showed a huge improvement over her time from a year ago, running more than five minutes faster with a time of 25:04.
